Stupid Twinstar Tricks
The Multiplex
Twinstar is really developing a cult like
following among the glider guys. It is cheap, aerobatic,
quiet, and you can use
it to aerotow handlaunch
and micro handlaunch gliders.

Here is our
first attempt at aerotowing with the Twinstar.
The plane in tow is a Dragonette with a "way too flat" V-tail.
The Twinstar is too fast for the Dragonette and I was really
dragging it all over the sky. We decided to try out the "Rack"
The Rack

The rack is
made from scraps of bass, 1/32 ply.,
and bamboo skewers that are lashed with

The climb out
is shallow, but predictable.

Piggy backing
the Dragonette.
The rack wasn't
completely ready, so I taped it on.
We field rigged it with wires
that were slightly bent and sprung
over the wing. The pilot would
hold a little down stick and then pull up
to release.

has installed landing gear and a pilot in his Twinstar.

latest incarnation of my Twin Star. Aerial photography with a

I used "Createx" paint with a sponge and small brush.
The dark colors looked good with 2 coats,
the fluorescent color took 3 coats and still doesn't look
great up close, but it serves it's purpose.
The black stripes on the engine nacelles and tail were
made with analin dye which is sold as leather dye.
It is alcohol based and works very well.

They are about $90.00 with motors and props.
We also carry the Multiplex Pico"Duo" electronic
speed controller. It is $60.00 for the 40amp continuous model.
There is a 20amp model for a little less, but it isn't any
lighter so what's the point!
